EAD vs continuing on H1-B

Hi all,

This is my first time posting. I am on H1-B, my AOS was filed in September of 2007 and teh status is "Case received and Pending". I have my EAD, and I have even done the biometrics. I have the following questions:

1. Can I look for a new job and use my EAD, effectively coming off of H1 status?
2. If I do this, can I renew my EAD and AP on my own?
3. What is the possible impact to my greencard application, will I have to start over?
4. If I can use the EAD for a new job, are there any restrictions to the kind of job I can have?

Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

This horse is beated till death in this forum, here is some points:
1- You can change employer if your I140 is approved and you have pending I485 for more than 180 days.
2- You have to be in the same or similar field in the new job.
3- With EAD you can work with any employer and renew it in advance (120 Days) (No restrictions for the EAD by itself, the restrictions is to be in your field or similar just to protect your pending I485 not because the EAD has restrictions)
4- You can renew EAD/AP on your own, just have a copy from I485 with you to be included with application.
5- Changing employer with pending GC may adverselly affect your pending I485 and in many cases RFE will be triggered and you have to be ready to respond.
6- Without visa and with only EAD, if your pending I485 rejected to any reason, you will be immediately out of status, unlike if you have H visa, you will have some room to move and act accordingly while you are in status.
