EAD Usage..

HI ,
I have a question about using EAD card.
I already have valid H1 and working for my parent company.
Can I use my EAD card to do some parttime job? so that I can work on 1099 on my own.No need to go through my employer.
If I start using EAD, will the H1 activity cancel? but my payrole is on H1.
I just want to used EAD card for parttime purpose..

Can you clarify my issue about H1 activity..?

Yes you can do part time work as long as it does not affect your full time job.
To do this legally, you have to giveup your H1 status i.e. you have to file a new I-9 with payroll dept.

----- once you use EAD you will not be on H1 status, you need to post if your I-140 is approved or I-485 is pending more than 180 days. it is safe to be on H1 till I-140 gets approved and I-485 pending crosses 180 days. many prefer to be on H1 status till I-485 is approved, many remain on H1 to bring spouse to US on H4

------ once you use EAD you fill up I-9 form AND your payole will NOT be on base of H1 status
