Hi, I will be submitting my I130, I485 and other forms with it including I765(for employment) in next couple of weeks. i was wondering how long generally it takes for them to approve and send the EAD. I am currently out of status in US. I did enter the country legally tho but been out of status for more than 180 days. Really anxious to start working legally. BTW I reside in wisconsin if that info helps. Anyone with any ideas and suggestions will be hihly appreciated!!

does that mean that i cannot work till i get the EAD? Will I have to wait for 2-3 months before i can legally start working?. Also how to find out abt the backlog in my state of Wisconsin. Thanks again for your reply.

Yes that is correct , you will have to wait, otherwise you can go the other way which I think is better to wait since you have already waited some time , what can hurt to wait a litte longer .

There should be a number on your receipt you got when you filed your 140/485 call them and they should be able to update you on your status on EAD.

Opps sorry just noted you mentioned you will be filing so you can't check anything at the moment since you don't have a Case # with INS.

I live in wisconsin. Can i still submit my forms to chicago lockbox? Or do i have to apply in wisconsin?
Also what is Chicago lockbox???
