Ead - Ssn

We got our EAD’s for self (H1) and dependents (H4) and wondering if we go for SSN to dependents will the status automatically changed to EAD. If not, are there any other complications by getting SSN? We have used their ITIN number while filing tax returns. I would wish my dependents to continue on H4 status and I’ll maintain H1 status considering I-140 is in process.

NO. Getting a SSN via EAD will not change your original visa status.
As matter of fact, it only takes you to fill out the form and the clerk verify those detail and you are good to go. No questions, no nothing and you will be getting the card in 1-2 weeks.
