Hello,

I want to appy for SSN # for my wife based on the EAD.

Does her H4 status change just by applying for SSN, or after she takes up a job ?

My I-140/I-485 are still pending.

Your wife's status doesnt change by just applying SSN, only when she starts working on EAD her status changes to completely to Immigrant Status.

I am in the same situation as your wife and thats what my lawyer told me also (as said by want gc soon).Also have you applied for your wife's SSN and if yes how long did it take.

how will the CIS now we have used EAD?? my wife(on h4) did a temp job for three months and left...so she is no longer on h4..but how does this change happen..she didnt give the EAD to the employer but offcourse gave the SSN..so has her status changed to AOS from h4??
any details will be appreciated..
 
Did she file form I-9?
Did her employer report IRS about the money that they used to pay her?

If any of the above is true then:

If USCIS wants to find out - they can find out if her status has changed.
 
hi Jharkhandi.. she has not filed anything..her employer used to give her a pay check with all the regular cuts...ssn, medicare,taxes...only thing she is never signed any papers nor had a emplyment letter....i am assuming her status changed...
