EAD Renewal

Last week my EAD expired. I have still valid H1. If I apply for EAD, will it be a new EAD or renewal? Can I walk-in to local INS and get it? Thanks!
 
U have to check renewal in the EAD form

If u r working on EAD, if you just apply for EAD renewal is enought to continue working on EAD. It is like working right after applying for H1 extension or transfer.

This is what I got from attorney I know.
 
I disagree with smala ...

I think EAD does not work like H1 i.e automatically allow u to work if applied for extension. My lawyer says , if you donot have valid EAD in hand u cannot work, though applied for renewal before expiration date.

Cheene , it would be wise to consult ur own lawyer .... because i know a person who was out of payroll temporarily because his new EAD was not approved in time as expected.

As far as getting from local INS, some are issuing it and some not and some issue only if the EAD is not renewed from 90 days of RD ......
 
my lawer tells me
If I want extend my EAD (even I don't use it) , I need to inform her 4 months before EAD expires.

Thanks to everyone. I spoke to my Lawyer. He was telling that it will be renewal even if I don't renew within expiration date
 
One more thing..

If you want to start work for new employer, then one should have EAD card(according to my attorney). It is because, when you apply for EAD renewal, new EAD is going to be valid from the day old EAD is going to expire. So, it doesn't matter when your next EAD is approved, 2 or 3 months after old EAD is expired.
