Do you have to stay with same employer to get EAD card renewed? What if you are laid off, what options you have.

Once you have EAD, can you always stay on EAD even if you change employer or get laid off?

yes

1. you can stay on EAD as long as your 485 is not adjudicated and EAD is renwed as and when necessary.

2. you can apply for H-1 depending on the time left on H-1. if six years have been over, and you used EAD, you will not get the extension of the seventh yr afterwards as using EAD cancels the H-1.

when will H-1 officially stop? if you apply for EAD and don\'t use it, will your H-1 still valid?

Do you have to get original lawyer and company to renew EAD?

1. If you just applied for EAD does not mean the H-1 is invalid. It is only when you use for the employment then the H-1 is invalid.

2. You can apply for the renewal just by attaching the receipt notice of 485. You don\'t need a lawyer or a company letter.
