EAD renewal without signature card?

Hi, I need to renew my EAD as soon as possible and while reading the requirements I noticed that I need to send in a signature card. My lawyer says he doesn\'t have one and we don\'t have a local INS office here. His suggestion is to send the form in without a signature card, that it is not required. Is this true? I can\'t really afford a RFE since my current EAD expires in November and that\'s the reason for the rush.
