My EAD will expire in 2 1/2 months. My company has sponsored by GC . My I-485 was filed in July '02. After repeated reminders, our company attorney will file for extension now. But it will take couple of weeks more. In that case I will have just 2 months in my EAD. Is there anything, I can do prior to my EAD expiry (considering I don't get its extension before expiry). In the worse case scenario, do I have to quite my job? My H1 expires in July'02. However, since I have used AP, it not valid. I still have 2 more years for a new H1B. Any suggestions?

You should have applied for EAD renewal on your own. Yes you have to be off the payroll for the period of current EAD expiry till new EAD approval date.

However, if your H1 had been valid all this EAD period and you are with the same company that is sponsoring your GC then you dont need to worry.
However if the company was different, you should have filed for a h1 transfer within a month of joining the new company using EAD.

Thanks Jaxen..
My H1 B expires on July 28th. However, it is not valid currently since I have used AP to travel abroard. My attorney still wants to apply for H1B extension for the rest of the period it has together with EAD extension. My question is will a new H1b help me to continue working, or in this case I need my EAD. Also my other question was, can I go to the local office for an interim EAD in case I don't get my approval in time.?

usage of AP does not invalidate H1. So the H1 extension should provide you with your daily bread.
If the EAD Receipt date has been 90 days past, yes you can try for an interim EAD at the local or nearest district office.
