EAD Renewal Question

Hi,

My wife has been working on EAD since last year. On April 1st her EAD expired and her employer decided to take her off payroll until her EAD renewal is approved.
The good news is that it was approved on 04/26. My question is: do we need to wait until we receive the card to get her back on payroll or it is OK to do it now, since we know that it has already been approved?

Anyone on EAD can work only for period that it is valid. since valid date is 4/26, that is when she should get on payroll.
