1> Do I have to send a covering letter along with my EAD renewal application?

2> On the signature card, there is one square box (stamp size) which says "Place Print Here". What do I have to print over there?

Thanks a lot in advance.

You don\'t need to send a cover letter. You need to attach copy of I-485 receipt, previous EAD card, two photos and a $ 100 check payable to INS. If you are also applying for your spouse then two seprate application with all the photo copies as mentioned above but a single check payable to INS in the amount of $ 200.

In signature card, print the right hand Index finger expression in blue or black ink.

- You do not need to send any covering letter. Put the application form (I-765) in the front and every other document behind it in the order mentioned in instructions. Read the instructions very carefully and do it exactly like what it says. If possible keep the check on the top so that it is visible. That is the very next thing they want to see.

- On the signature card, all I did was just sign in the signature box. They are going to use that signature card when they make your EAD card. They are going to put your photograph in that square box I guess. You do not need to do anything there.

- When you received your previous EAD card, it was attached to a hard thick paper (just like the credit cards arrive attached to a thick paper sheet), in that card you have to detach the portion that has your A# (you can figure out which portion by looking at that sheet) and send it with your application. INS says it helps them process your application easily. You DO NOT need to send your previous EAD. That is not right. Because, if the applicant sends it with the application 3 months in advance for renewal, he will not have their EAD card for that period. INS never asks for the EAD card back (look at the instructions). I did not send it with mine but the application was accepted fine.

I appreciate your propmt responses. In fact I got my 1st EAD from local INS office and would like to renew it from VSC just to avoid RFE. Do you guys think that this will be a problem? I am doing this because I saw some messages on this board few weeks back saying that it is advisable to get EAD renewed from VSC to be very safe.
