EAD Renewal at Local Office ??

I applied for EAD renewal 1 1/2 months ago, received appointment and went for fingerprints and picture for the new EAD, but in the meanwhile the old EAD expired.
Does anybody have an experience with a similar situation?
Should I go to the USCIS Local Office (where my I485 case was transferred and where I applied for a new EAD) and ask for an Interim EAD? Do I have to wait for 90 days before doing that?
My employer asked me for my new EAD...in a very sneaky way..

----- it seems to efiled the EAD renewal? is that correct? you applied EAD renewal very late, every lawyer says that apply EAD AP 6 months advance becase if any RFE then still you can get EAD before your present EAD expires

------ OK, your I-485 is tranfred to local office, better go to Local USCIS office becase that office is going to give you EAD
