My EAD expires 07/09/04. When I spoke to my lawyer in January, I was told to wait until March to apply for a renewal. Now that I started gathering information about this, I saw on USCIS website that renewal should be filed 180 days before the current one expires. That is confusing.
The original 4 months my lawyer told me made sense because that gives me more than 90 days till expiration so I can get an interim EAD if my new one does not come by that time. But why does USCIS site says 180 days and what is the experience of people around here?
I have gone through several posts of people here applying for renewal as late as 2 weeks before expiration. While I would not want to be in their shoes, I do wonder about whether I am late or on time for filing a renewal.
