EAD Questions

Folks, I am on H1B (8th year) with 485 pending for myself and my wife (currently on H4). I have also applied for AP and EAD. I was wondering that once I get my EAD:

1. Is there any benefit to my switching from H1B to EAD?
2. What do I need to submit to my company to change my employment from H1 to EAD?
3. Unlike H1B, can I have an additional part-time job if I switch to EAD?
4. Are the employment privileges to an EAD holder the same as that of a green card holder?
5. Can my wife have two half-time jobs on EAD? Can she just walk in to a local grocery store and start working the next day if offered employment?

I have been on H1B for ever, and have been way too traumatized by its employment restrictions. Just finding it a little hard to believe that EAD is so much more simpler.

Thanks!

1. Yeah - few benefits - see below
2. Submit a new I-9 form
3. Yes - you can (one of the benefits)
4. Not sure what you mean - employment privileges ?!?
5. Yes - she can have as many jobs as she wants (or as few - no requirement that she works a minimum of x hours a week) - If she wants to work only 5 hrs a week its fine (so is working 100 hrs/week !)

Wow! Thanks for your response to all the questions. By employment privileges I meant stuff like min/max hour restriction, multiple employers, etc. You answered them in your response to the other questions. Thanks again! It seems like anything is better than H1B.
