We filed 485/EAD/AP in last october. I received my EAD receipt, but my wife did not. I was planning to go to Chicago local INS to get the EAD if we do\'t receive EAD approval in 90 days. My lawyer told me that local INS will not issue my wife EAD because my 485 is employment base. Is this true?

looks like you need to find a better lawyer. if both you and your wife have applied for I-485 and have your receipt notices you can take that to your local INS and get EAD. Been there done that.

Take these docs with you...
1. Photocopy of I485 receipt
2. Photocopy of EAD receipt
3. Two photos( MN does not need it..some place require)
4. copies of all your previous I94s/H1bs/passport
5. Carry your checkbook too in case...( I didn\'t use it)
