Ead Q

I applied for 485, EAD and AP in sept last week. Got the 485 receipt with 10 days. All the three checks were encashed with in the week (in the same week they received the applications). I have not heard anything about EAD receipts or AP receipts. Any idea what is aheppening any idea? How can I get in touch with whom? And then I do not have a reference to ask them about my EAD application.

Please share your thoughts/take on such case.

my suggestions.

Here are my suggestions (Others may correct me ):

* If you have the check numbers, ask your bank to give you the copies of the encashed checks. These will usually have some kind of endorsements for you to refer.

* This is extremely useful, in my case when I applied for 485+EAD+AP. I got receipts for EAD+AP but not 485. My lawyers went by the copies of the checks as proof of 485 filing and receipt date. This is what I have used to file my EAD and AP extensions.

* After 90 days which for you would be end of Dec, go get your iEAD from your local office. Show the copies of the checks as 'proof of EAD filing'.

* What would also help is if you have a copy of the all the documents that you sent to INS along with your EAD application. I hope you made a photocopy of the check too. It helps.

all the best and keep me posted.

thanks,
Rajesh.

Nopes.

Well not with my bank statements. Maybe different banks workd differently. Anyway.. you can always order check photocopies form the bank itself.

I'm just suggesting what I have done in the past.

Which type of checks you guys sent to INS? I mean:
Money order? or Cashier's Check? or simple checks issued by banks?

What i know is: INS accpets only money order or Cashier's check?

How to track these?

Is there anyone who sent simple checks?
please write.

No such requirement. I recently had successfully renewed my EAD and used my personal checks. I believe thats what you mean by 'simple checks'.
Also its best to send personal checks as these are very easily tracked.

Yes. Personal checks are fine.

please ignore.. look at the next msg.

* Applied for EAD+AP renewals on nov 25th 2002 using
personal checks.
* Checks were encashed on Dec 06, 2002. Exactly on the 10th
business day. (25th was a monday and 6th a friday .
* Ordered the photocopies of the checks form the bank on
dec 06, 2002.

Will keep you posted on what type of endorsements I see
on the checks.

Dec 11, 2002.

RD: Nov 25, 2002.
ND: Dec 05, 2002
Says, it takes upto 80 days from the receipt date. Asks
me to contact them if more than 90 days have passed.

I hope I dont get any RFEs now.

Thanks,
Rajesh.
