EAD lost in mail.

Hi, all:

VSC, applied EAD renewal on Nov 11, 2005, and case approved
on Dec 19 2005.

But never received the card or the approval notice.

So call both the custom service and VSC, they told me to reapply
again (and repay the fee $180). They say since it's not their fault
that EAD is lost, so I have to reapply again to get the card.

Is this fair, any one has the same experience?

What should I do?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I am also in the same situation like you. I applied for my EAD renewal in 2nd week of Nov 2005. Online status is showing as case approved on Dec 9, 2005. But yet, I din't receive my EAD crad.

Called USCIS and they advised me to file for a replacement card immediately since I din't receive it by mail for some reason eventhough USCIS mailed out my card.

Filed for EAD replacement card again 10 days back and also walked in to local INS office a week back with all the proofs and receipt notices which I have with a INFOPASS appointment.

Officer told me that they don't issue any EAD's there in local USCIS office. They asked me to go to Application Support Center to give my picture and thumb print on that same day and also they told me that I will get a new card in mail in about a week time after I give my picture and thumb print at local office. Office told me that, I will not receive any refund for the replacement card fee($180.00) which I paid.

It is been more than a week. But still I din't receive my card.

I again scheduled one more INFOPASS appointment for next week with the same local INS office which I went a week back to enquire on the card which I din't receive in week time as per their words.

My EAD in my hand is expiring in next 4 days and my company will keep on unpaid leave untill I produce the new EAD card to them.

I can share more details after I complete my next week walk into enquiry with the local INS office.

Any thoughts? Please share your details if you have any developments in your case?

Thanks

Could your card have been mailed to your old address and the post office returned it because you are not in Atlanta?

I haven't changed my mailing address in USCIS records. I am still using my old address only for all USCIS communication purpose since Atlanta address is not my permanent address.

For some reason I din't get my card in the mail. Not because of any address forwarding, etc. I don't know exactly why I din't get that in mail.

Did you change addresses with the Post Office? If so, your EAD card will not be forwarded to your new Atlanta address. It will be returned back to USCIS.

I did not put any address forward to the post office because my friend is still there in that address and he checks my mail everyday for me.

When I called USCIS, they says that the card did not returned to them either.

Today, my employer told me that I can not also work to the client even though they put me on unpaid leave.

Next????????

Print out a copy of your approval status online and go to the local service center and ask them to issue you a new card or what the procedure would be for them to issue you a new card. try ans see if you can convince them to issue you an interim card while they get the new card issued.

goodluck.

Thats what I did last time when I went to Local INS office. After they reviewed the online status approval info they asked me to go to Application Support Center to give my thumb print and my picture saying that I will get my card in mail in a week time.(I already mentioned in my above previous message).

Any how, I have a latest update for you guys.

As per my company request(becoz client will go mad if they knows that I can not work from this Friday here legally and since it is going to be a day notice to them) I went to local USCIS this morning without INFOPASS appointment(I have an appointment for this Friday) to try to check my luck. Here what it happened.

I went to local USCIS office early this morning(6:00AM) and tried to get into the office to talk with immigration officer for requesting my new card. First of all, in the entrance of the office, they did not allow me to go in and see the officer since I do not have any appointment for today to walk in. I explained about my job situation saying that I can not work from Friday(02/10) since my current EAD card is going to expire tomorrow (I have also provided all the documents and proofs) and finally I also told to them that I would like to see the supervisor.

After that supervisor came to me and told me the same thing that, I can not go in without an appointment. She also told me that, since I have an appointment on Friday(02/10) she asked me to come in early morning (like today) and get the card before I start my work on Friday and go directly to work with new card.

Now I have to wait and see on Friday how it will go.

Any thoughts????????

Thanks

very bad experience

Hi, All:

Here is my experience so far, very bad.

In Jan. I called VSC and national customer service,
they ask me to repay the fee and reapply to get the card.

To save time, I then repay $180 and resubmitt the application.
However, they send me another receipt notice, i.e. they treat
it as a new case.

Today, I call VSC again, I explain my situation to them, hope
they can link the new case to the old one, so that the new case
can be processed quickly.

But they say they will treat the new case as a seperate case
and will not link the two cases. They also tell me the cover
letter I wrote explaining the previous card is lost will NOT be read
until the new case reaches some officers.

So I have to wait for another 2 months?? What a nightmare.

I have some answers for you as per my experience(Don't consider this as final!!!!).

Since I am also in the same situation, If I were you, I would do the things like this:

1. If you really need your EAD(I mean if you can not work without that) get the INFOPSS appointment in a week time and try to walk into the local INS office and try for the interim EAD like what I am trying now(Hope you will not have any troubles like me).

2. If no urgency, you can wait for the replacement card which you filed with USCIS second time. Yes, USCIS will consider your 2nd time application also as a new case only eventhough you put a cover letter. Becoz they told me the same thing for my case also when I called Vermont Service Center.

If you need to expedite the process for your replacement card, you have to send a request letter to a separate section which they handle these kind of cases. Along with the request you have to show the valid proof that why you are in the urgency for this card(letter from the company saying that you can not work without that, your personal financial situation or anything that shows the proof that it is urgent) and also copies of your previously applied receipt number, online approval copy for that old receipt, replacement receipt and other supporting docs etc...(PLEASE DO NOT SEND MORE THAN FIVE PAGES WHEN YOU FAX TO USCIS). After you fax all those they will send you a reply to your fax with the next step(wheher they consider ot not, if consider howmny days approximately it will take etc...).

I was told by the whole process from the Vermont service center officer when I called for my case. I did not do the above process since I already went to local USCIS and I was told by them that I will recive a new card in a week time which I did not receive. Also in local office they told me that I will have to loose my $180.00 which I filed for replacement since they don't consider the replacement application since they are going to send me the card in mail in a week time based on my first filed renewal application which I lost in the mail.

Of course it did not work for me yet as I explained in above messages. USCIS National customer service says that, they do not have any control on what local office says and what they do.

So finally I am going mad with all this mess. Let me know if you applied in Vermont Service center and if you decide to fax them the expedite process request, I will check the fax# and give it to you or else call USCIS and ask the details about this.

GOOD LUCK.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi, Ananta.c:

Thanks for your msg. Thanks for spending time writing to me.

Sometimes you really think about what are those ppl in USCIS doing.
It's such a simple case. If card is lost, then just send another one
(even ask for fees again is ok). Why do they make a simple thing
so complicated??

Regard my situation:
(1). Yes, I need the card, my old card expires the end of Feb.

(2). I have just made an infopass appointment for local office.
But it is on Feb. 22. Still 2 more wks.

(3). Could you please provide the FAX number and group name
for handling expedite request. I think I will do this in the meantime,
I will ask my employer write a letter for me to explain the situation.

(4). What is 'Application Support Center' mentioned in your msg?
Is it part of the local office, or it's a different place??

Thanks and good luck tomorrow.

Goodluck tomorrow.
I hope you get the card.

I would also call USCIS and check what address they have in file for you.
I would talk to the Postmaster at your local post office (old address) and ask
them why your mail is not being delivered. Ask them if they can hold mail that came to your address from USCIS.

The best way to resolve this problem is : RENEW YOUR EAD card every HALF YEAR!!!!
That's mean we have to pay extra one dollar per day to work in this country, and also we have to pay all the tax to feed them who make us paying this extra dollar each day!!!

I am not sure if all cities have Application Support Centers but i thinnk the big ones do. They are seperate from the local service centers and provide biometrics services (FP and pictures). I am not sure if they provide any other services besides biometrics. There are no case officers or immigration officers at this center and they cannot make any decisions on your applications. I am not sure if they have the authority to issue EADs after taking biometrics. But I don't think they do.

I don't think you have to be so paranoid and renew your card every 6 months. However, this doesn't also mean that you have to renew your card 2-4 weeks before it expires.

Sorry, I just feel so frustrated about the job they have done on me last year. I can not get EAD card on time, I lost my job, one month later, i lost my drive license, then another month later, i got EAD, i have my license back, then found current job, which is not as good as the former one. During the couple of months, my life is miserable, worried, anxious, waiting for mailman everyday, no income, can not drive, the whole family filled of tears everyday. i called 800 number , they didn't give you any imformation, just asked me waiting for snail mail, i almost wanted a suicide to end that nightmare. when i type these words, i can not help tearing again, sorry
