EAD issue

hi
I have my EAD till 2011 Dec. But my husband wants to leave USA and go to India next month.
We both got the EAD through his company which is processing the GC now.
Will the EAD be valid if he leaves and abandons his green card ?

Your EAD would remain valid until it expires or USCIS cancels it. It won't automatically be voided because of your husband abandoning his I-485 by leaving the US without Advance Parole or the employer withdrawing. First USCIS would have to recognize his situation and cancel his I-485. Then they have to recognize your case's dependence on him and then cancel your I-485 and EAD. There may be a lag of several weeks or months between the initial triggering event (his departure or the employer withdrawal) and the cancellation of your EAD and I-485.

EAD question...

Hello to all,
I am a bit confused about my EAD. I am currently applying for my GC through my company. My current company has been bought by another company. The change should occur next month. I did receive my EAD at the end of August valid for one year. My current company told me that I could no longer work for them when the other company takes over until I get my GC!!!??? I would have to not work (until GC arrives) or work for another branch of that same current company.
My question is: what is the purpose of the EAD then??? It does say on the back of card that I am legally able to work for any employer. My visa L1 is still valid until February 2013. I already went for fingerprinting and have an appointment scheduled mid october for biometrics.
What can I or cannot do?? I do want to make sure I remain legal in all aspects.
I would greatly appreciate any advise.
Thank you for your time and help in that matter.

Technically, EAD allows you to work for any employer. Your current employer might be confusing it with other work visa like H1 or L1.

Is the person who told you that aware of your EAD and what it means to have EAD? Does that person even know you have EAD?

Escalate this to the company's legal department, who should know more about immigration law. If that doesn't work or they don't have a legal department, find an immigration lawyer and get them to write a letter to the company explaining your rights to work with EAD. It might cost a couple hundred dollars to get that letter, but that's a lot better than being benched until the GC arrives.
