I filed for my EAD together with my 485 application (based on marriage) in Jan 2004. As I had not heard anything on my application, I went to the NYC local office and got my interim EAD in July 04. This EAD expired in Mar 05 and as of then, I still hadn't received my original EAD. So I went to the NYC local office to get another interim EAD. I was told that I should file a new app for renewal of my EAD and that they would not issue an interim EAD.
However, when I called the INS at their customer service number, they said that I cannot have 2 EAD applications outstanding and that I had to get another interim EAD card.
I'm confused now. Do I have to apply to renew my EAD or should I get another one?
