EAD: Is this correct?

I read at http://www.immihelp.com/gc/aos/ead.html that if
after 90 days of filing for EAD extension if it is not approved it
is automatically extended for 240 days or till a decision about
adjustment is made whichever comes first.

Is this correct? Or are they just saying that one can go to District office after 90 days and get an interim EAD?

that 240 days relates to the interim EAD\'s validity. But some district offices give the interim for 364 days...
