EAD - How long it takes to get it?

How long it takes to get the EAD card on average?

Someone told me a while back, that 90 days after the RD, if you didn't receive the EAD card, you could walk into local DO to request one.

Is this correct?
Is the 90 days count from the RD? In case get RFE, is the 90 count from the day they receive required documents?
If request from local DO, how long it will take to receive the card?

In case of an RFE, I believe the processing time halts briefly (i.e. does not count in the 90 day period) until all the required documents are resent.

I could be wrong though; lets see what others have to say.
 
You can not just request one.... (They do not have a little EAD printer in their office). It should take 60-90 days from the Receipt Date and if you get an RFE, it supossedly re-sets the timer... I got an RFE but got my EAD on day 82 I think... so I did not see any "real" delay.
 
I got an RFE and it said if you don't recieve any action in 60 days contact them- so maybe it doesn't reset the timer...
