EAD for kids?

My spouse and I received EAD cards. Are my kids aged 9 and 4 required to get them too?

Just for SSN

My son got EAD as well. He is not, Of course not, going to work till he\'s 18. But with EAD he could have his SSN, instead of keep using that stupid IRS number for tax return.
