EAD filed too early

Is there any such thing as filing EAD renewal too early, ie 5-6 months in advance of expiry of previous EAD. My attorney keeps insisting that if I apply prior to 120 days of expiry of the previous EAD, it will get rejected or denied. I have'nt read this anywhere. Appreciate if any one has any suggestions/ experience. The USCIS website says you can apply upto 6 months in advance of expiry of 1st EAD infact they recommend it.

they reject if you apply earlier than 6 months.
otherwise all risk is just approval before expiration of previous EAD, so you have overlap and so loose time/money.. depends on the place where you apply, some just approve (with overlap or gap), some approve with starting date next day after expiration of previous EAD...
