EAD expiring

Hello

I am on 8 year H1B extension (H1B is valid till 2008) as I got 3 year H1B extension because my I-140 is approved.
I don't have H1B Visa stamped..I went to india on family emergency and came back on Advance parole. Will my H1B still valid or will my status get changed to EAD I am kind of confused on this .

My present EAD is getting expired on 23 Oct 2006,(i.e next week) I have already applied for EAD in MAY 2006, still i didn't received the approval. Tried infopass to get an appointment in local INS The following message is getting displayed

"At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later."

Can I work after 23 oct if I don't receive EAD???? as I have already applied for EAD.

Please help me gurus.
 
Your H1 will be considered invalid when you file a new I-9 form with your employer and use EAD as proof of work authorization.
Since you have not done that your H1 is till valid.
