My EAD expired and I have applied for the renewal 45 days back and have the receipt for the same, I would like to know whether I can join a new employer with just the receipt , I have been issued 2 EADs in the past. Yes, you can change your employer if you want to but still, if you think you can avoid this till your 1-485 gets approved that will be good. Not that its risky to change jobs but at the same time, keep any reasons to minimal when dealing with i485 because these days USCIS just need a small reason to disapprove any application.
Incase you want to go ahead with the change job. Do this.
Along with your EAD card receipt, give them the EAD copies of the last two ones which got approved. You are safe and good to go.

It is not published rule, so technically/legally we can NOT continue job on expired EAD, so we should get it renew before prescribbed time publihsed by USCIS to avoid any legal complication.Do you want me to send a email from a Lawyer reagrding this.
