Just wanted to share an EAD experience and a new piece of info that some might find helpful.
Last year, I applied for my 3ed EAD 3 months on advance as usual. My work permit was delayed for 5 months so I had to spend 2 month on an unpaid leave. This year, to avoid this, I applied 6 month in advance. After 3 month has passed, my lawyer initiated an inquiry through the senator office. To quote their reply “…cannot be worked until 90 days before the expiration of the current card. It will be worked 10/29/07. “.
Sure enough, on Oct 30 I got a notice that it was approved.
Now, the really surprising thing (in a good way) that my current EAD is valid until Jan 30 2008. So I thought since the work permit is usually valid from the date it was issued that I have lost 3 month on my current one, which is not an issue at all since I wanted to be on the safe side and not have the same problem as last year. Well, yesterday I got my cared and it is valid from Jan 31 2008 and for a whole year.
I know some people said that before on this form and got some replies that it is not true. I surely did not think that it is this way, but now I’m a believer.
Man…. They way small things that should be routine now makes so excited. This should not have been an issue after 3 years plus waiting for a green card… and through marriage not work.
