Hi All,

My question is me and wife are on Pending 485, EAD/AP till now, I have already extended my EAD but haven't extended my wife's EAD as she is not working.

Do I need to extend her EAD ? (She doesn't have any valid h1/h4, but her I-485 is pending).

Thanks for your advice.

No, she does not need an EAD if she does not want to work.

If she wants to work and applies for the EAD in the future, does she need to tell the CIS about her old EAD? Does she need to submit a copy of the old EAD?

She certainly needs to tell them about it. I don't believe that the I-765 form asks for a copy of the old EAD, just the petition number (if available).

One may have ever applied several EADs before. Does the applicant certainly need to report all old EADs when applying for the new one or renewal?

if someone does not have a valid visa or illegal and doesn't have an EAD while I-485 pending and if law enforcement find out he or she is illegal working without any EADs even in I-485 pending status, he or she may be subject to depotation, so I just heard. Of course if she is not working at all, it may be another story. That's why lawyer always suggest you renew your EAD every year till GC is obtained to keep "status"...

No, you do not need EAD to be in status while your I-485 is pending. You needed to be in status (non-immigrant visa for example) at the moment of filing I-485; after that, your i-485 receipt is proof of your status.
You need EAD (or H-1) only if you want to work.
Same with travel: if you do not intend to travel, not having AP is perfectly fine.
As to old EAD/AP - yes if you apply for a new one, they want your old one back, sometimes they want original (for example in local office) back when they issue a new one.

What do you mean by "...they want your old one back..." One has 3 old EADs in the past 10 years including one for the F-1 practical training issued 9 years ago. This applicant is now applying for the EB I485 EAD renewal. How should he do with the 3 old EADs? Please provide a reliable answer if you know it.
