EAD(employment authorization doc) on L2 Visa for job

Hi all,
i am a software engineer and would be travelling to US in Sep'06 on
L1 .My wife, who is also a Software engineer ,would take a 1 year leave
(without pay) from her employer and travel along with me.
I need to know that : Would she be able to receive her EAD (employment
authorization doc) if she is on leave from her job in India. Is there
legally any rule that mentions you should not be employed or should
not be on any other payroll if you want to work in the US on an L2
dependent visa. Any body who can help me please, thanks in advance

there should not be such rules. CIS does not care about oversea employment and getting EAD should not be problems. If you have oversea income, you have to report it when you file TAX in the US, though.
