EAd e-file question

anyone ever done an EAD e-file renewal and did not answer a question which was not marked with a * (non mandatory, or not required to answer)?

I am about to do mine but I am not sure about one of those questions that is not mandatory to answer and I don't feel like contacting my attorney and explain him why I don't feel like using his service this time.

Which question particularly you do not want to answer OR need help of your attorney to answer? I e-filed EAD card last month and managed to answer all questions using A #, past EAD cards and previous receipt notices.

Actually I had 2 questions. One was the Date of last entry, since my post I got that so that is clear.

The next was: "Have you ever applied for employment authorization..." etc.... "Date of application"

I am not sure weather to use the notice date or the receipt date of the original EAD application.

Yeah, horror stories are there. But they can lose a paper based application as well. There is no safe way. "Flip the coin" kind of....

ohhh and just going into an Eckerd and explaining the photo guy how my INS photo should look like... and have him re-do it like 5x so he thinks you are a real jerk when you reject it because it is not 1 1/4" from top to chin... that alone makes me week.

I don't agree with your missing paper based application comment. If they misplace ur applicatin after they send u a receipt notice then you can always get an interim EAD (no application, no RFE). If they misplace it before they issue a receipt notice, you don't have to wait 90 days to find out about it.

I never thought about the issues with immigration photos as there are dozens of places in Houston which specialize in immigration photos (they actually guarantee that your photos will be accepted by INS), but i think you are right.
 
Paper filing v/s e-filing

With the traditional way (paper filing), you dont have a to spend an extra 1/2 day to give your digitalized photo when they call you for one.
 
Actually I made my mind up for paper. Not because of that story though.

But if I think about it there are 4 things that must happen for e-file.

1. your on-line application must arrive w/o problems via the net (probably not an issue but I guess it can get corrupted)
2. your photo+FP must arrive via their system whatever they are using (same as #1)
3. your supporting material must arrive via post
4. all three above must be matched correctly

With e-file it seems there is more waiting involved because one step is waiting for the other, vs. paper based applications where the whole package is together in the hand of the officer.

I think BCIS killed the purpose of the whole e-file system when they required us to do these additional steps.

So finally I think I have my little paper package together and ready to mail it... hmmm... hmmm...
