Ead discontinue question

My wife and I have applied for EAD/AP last year, when we applied for I-485. We both have valid H1/H4 for another 2 years.

I am not planning to use leave my current company but as a safer side I want to apply for EAD.
My wife is not planning to work for another six to eight month. Depending on situation she might consider working later.

Now dilemma is,

If we did not renew my wife’s EAD now and renew whenever she needed. Is that Ok?
Any issues with this kind of discontinued EAD? She did not used her 1st EAD also.

Please let me know. Thanks in advance

For the non-working dependents, there is no need to maintain EAD continuity. For my wife, I had applied for a new EAD after many months of expiry of the old EAD and it got approved without any issues.

Does this mean - that for a working wife one has to continue to extend the EAD (even if she is working on H1B)? Also, if the primary is working on H1-B - does he also need to get the EAD extended continuously?

No. She has the H-1B.
