EAD card requirement

I need help with a question:

My EAD (through F1 OPT) expires in March. Is there any way I can continue to work (for example by using the receipt notices as a proof that I will eventually get work-authorization) since my application is under review.

Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you

Please provide more information ... what family member is sponsoring you for a green card, did you file an I-485, etc.

more information

I have applied for PR through marriage and have filed all (I-130, 485, 765) together.

You can't work based on the I-765 receipt. But if your I-765 has been pending for at least 90 days, you can make an Infopass appointment to request an interim EAD or expedite your EAD.

thank you for the help --

My I-765 will not be pending for more than 90 days. In fact, just about 40-50 days when my OPT expires.

Can I work, if the online status says that I-765 has been approved ? because that might happen way before the EAD actually appears at my doorstep.

Is there any other provision that I can use to continue working?

Can I file for the 17-month extension (STEM extension) to my OPT (after I have already filed my PR application) ?

Thank you again for your help

theoretically - yes. Practically - depends on your employer. You usually need to have your EAD in order to continue working.

this has nothing to do with your AOS. You can file for the extension if you are otherwise eligible.
