EAD Card renewals change in law

Hi Gurus
Would like to have some update on the following situation:
Our old EAD cards expiring on 4 April 08. We applied renewal on 14 Nov 07. we got the approval on 21 Jan 08 and received the card with dates from 21 Jan 08 to 20 Jan 09. We paid $ 340 as renewal Fee in 2007

Previous renewals we expiring on 4 April 07 we applied on 19 Oct 06 and got renewed cards on 20 Dec 06 with renewed dates of 5 April 07 to 4 April 08. We paid $ 180 as renewal fee in 2006.

Previous year in 2005 also when we applied we got the renewal late but we got from 5 April 06 to 4 April 2007.

Has there been any change in law or we can complaint to USCIS for above error/discrepancy.

Will appreciate some feedback.

They are supposed to renew your new card from 5th April 08 for one year. USCIS does like this now a days. I know many people lost several months due to this kind of approval. I think you can complain to CIS Ombudsman or at local office. In which service center did you apply EAD ?

That's interesting. Two questions for Suresh:

1- Did you include a copy of your previous EAD with the renewal application?

2- Did you send the latest renewal application to the same service center as the one where your I-485 is pending, or to the same Service Center that the last renewal was sent to?

1. Yes I had mailed the copy of my previous EAD card.
2. had applied to California service center in Year 2006. My I485 was tfrd from CSC to NSC last year in Feb 07. Had applied EAD was at Nebraska in Nov 07 for current year renewals.
