A quick question - does one need an EAD card if one is on H1B ? The reason i ask is that when goes from F1 to OPT (F1), one gets an EAD card showing the OPT duration (usually 1 yr). So when one changes from OPT to H1B and the OPT EAD card is expiring, does one need an extended/new EAD or not at all.

The H1 is your new employment authorization. When you were in F1 you needed a special employment authorization, but h1 is a visa -its main purpose is to allow the visa holder to work in USA.
