EAD Card never used for work, can I apply for SSN?

I have received the EAD physical card though employment based AOS but I am currently working on H1 with the sponsoring employer. I already have a SS card with "Not valid for work without INS authorization"
I would appreciate your opinion on following:

1. If apply at SSA office, will they issue me a new card without any restriction like the one I have on my current card?

2. If they issue me a new card(I am assuming the same SS#), will it have some expiry date on it as my EAD is valid for one year only?

3. Does applying for SS card changes my status from H1 to EAD although I am not working on EAD?

Please share your experiences. This is my first EAD card.

Why do you think there is a restriction for you to work after you got your EAD card? Your SS card says "Not valid for work without INS authorization" and you got your INS authorization (your ead card) to work for anyone. So you are fine. Until you get your GC, you will have to get INS authorization to work. So there is no way you can "update" your SS card without getting GC.

3. Does applying for SS card changes my status from H1 to EAD although I am not working on EAD? If you went by yourself to update it with SS office, you will be EAD even if not using it and will not be H anymore

Please share your experiences. This is my first EAD card.
