EAD card delayed

I am an F1 academic student. I applied for an EAD card in the beginning of May.
Here is the time frame of my application:
May 5, 2008 - application documents sent to the Texas service center.
May 8, 2008 - materials received
May 12, 2008 - I received a receipt notice with an SRC number and a notice date from May 9
June 13, 2008 - the status online states: " On June 13, 2008, we ordered production of your new card.
Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."

Nothing since then...
I have two Chinese friends who sent their applications on the same day as I did and received their EAD cards more than 8 weeks ago.

I've called the USCIS several times already, but the customer service operators there just read the same note I can read online for myself and tell me to wait. I doubt that they can actually track where my application is stuck...
On July 29 an adviser from our international student office sent an e-mail inquiry to the USCIS but has not received a reply yet.
I am supposed to start work on Sept. 1.

Can I apply for an interim card if my status online says that "card production has been ordered" (the status is not pending).
What could I possibly do to speed up the process?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and advice.
Ana

Hi,

I am also in the same situation. I mailed my OPT application on May 16, 2008 and received the receipt notice on May22nd (Receipt Notice Date: May 20, 2008). But no card in the mail until now.

My requested OPT start date is August 16, 2008.

The online status says: " On June 13, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."

I contacted my International Student Advisor at my school on July 22, 2008 and they asked me to wait for a couple of weeks and asked me to contact them this week. I hope they can do something about it.

Please let me know if you had any luck with USCIS.

Ditto for my husband. Rct on May 9. LUD on June 13 and still waiting despite multiple phone calls. I did get mine after a few phone calls

I am exactly the same situation. My OPT start day is much worse than your guys. (OPT
start date is July 11 and suppose to start work as soon as arrival of EAD card.)
I already called the customer service clerk and got the referral number but I did not get any information from then. Here is my time frame.

May 12, 2008 - I received a receipt notice with an SRC number and a notice date from May 9
June 13, 2008 - the status online states: " On June 13, 2008, we ordered production of your new card.
August 4, 2008 - Called customer service and get the referral number

Today I called the USCIS for probably the 10th time and this customer service representative told me that the the guy who I talked to on July 14th (after the 30 day period for mailing the card had passed) has made a mistake by putting a request notice in my application (this was supposed to take 30-45 days). Nobody has processed this request as of today.
Initially he told me that I had two options - to either send a new application (and pay the $340 fee again), or wait for the request to be processed. Since I was quite upset with that he told me that he would try to override the request notice from July 14th (so that I don't have to wait the 45 days since then to expire) and put and expedite notice. I was told this should take 5-10 days and that if I am not contacted by then to call them again.

I really really hope this works.

Finally I got a new email about my case.

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On August 12, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you.

So How many days will I have to wait at this time?
Anyway, I asked my possible employer and my university to find out the current condition of my case in the USCIS. My university officer told me that there was the computer problem on the cases processed on June 13. So if you are one of guys who are waiting for the card which had June 13 time stamp and did not received yet, it is definitely better idea to contact university or USCIS to put attention to your case.
I hope all of our cases works ok.

Got my OPT card finally

Hi all:

I finally got my OPT card on August 30, 2008. My university had mailed the texas service center last week and that helped in expediting my case, which was already approved on June 13, 2008. Hope everyone else have already got it if not will get it soon...
