I am an F1 academic student. I applied for an EAD card in the beginning of May.
Here is the time frame of my application:
May 5, 2008 - application documents sent to the Texas service center.
May 8, 2008 - materials received
May 12, 2008 - I received a receipt notice with an SRC number and a notice date from May 9
June 13, 2008 - the status online states: " On June 13, 2008, we ordered production of your new card.
Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."
Nothing since then...
I have two Chinese friends who sent their applications on the same day as I did and received their EAD cards more than 8 weeks ago.
I've called the USCIS several times already, but the customer service operators there just read the same note I can read online for myself and tell me to wait. I doubt that they can actually track where my application is stuck...
On July 29 an adviser from our international student office sent an e-mail inquiry to the USCIS but has not received a reply yet.
I am supposed to start work on Sept. 1.
Can I apply for an interim card if my status online says that "card production has been ordered" (the status is not pending).
What could I possibly do to speed up the process?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions and advice.
Ana
