I applied for AP/EAD/AOS at CSC and my AOS got transferred to Portland, Oregon local office from during mid feb. Had my FP at the end of JAN. I have my interview scheduled end of march.

Now I got EAD card in mail form CSC. It has everything on it except it says "Fingerprint not available". It is valid for 1 year and says has no conditions attached to it. But I am not sure of the FP text on it, since I already gave my FP in Jan end itself.

I have my AOS interview at the end of march. Hopefully I will get my AOS approved on that day itself aiding me in not be bothered about my AP/EAD.
Just realized that my AP is also transfered to local office.
just like my AOS.

Has anybody have this experience where AOS/AP is transfered to local office and EAD arrives in the mean time and it says fingerprint not available on it.

Even I have similar question

AP & EAD Approved - Questions on EAD

Hi,

AP and EAD approved for myself and my wife. I have couple of questions on the EAD.

1) The EAD has a box "fingerprint not available" is it common to all. (we have already done the FP on Jan/2005.

2) The EAD also has a quote on the bottom "NOT VALID FOR REENTRY TO U.S" again is this common to all.

Thanks,

EB3 - Non Concurrent
Labor - Sep/2001 - Approved Mar/2004
I-140 : RD - Apr/2004, AP - Oct/2004
I-485,AP,EAD : RD - Dec/2004.

FP : Jan/2005
AP,EAD : AD - Feb/20/2005

Received AP and EAD - Mar/4/2005

stinger and like_to_get_gc,
If you applied EAD through paper application then the EAD will always say Fingerprints not available. That is the standard message for everyone. Only if you apply online are you required to go for biometrics (FP and Photos) to local USCIS office. Remember FPs for I-485 and for EAD are totally separate, and USCIS does not use one for the other.

Reagrding like_to_get_gc's 2) question, yes that also commen to all. You cannot use EAD to enter US. For that you need an Advance Parole.

Thanks for your reply. That allows me to drop some stuff from my list to bother about (I have AOS interview at the end of mar. It got transfered from CSC to portland).
I have a question, my AP is also transfered though. Not sure why EAD was approved but AP is transfered. Does that mean anything?

I am not sure I can answe that. I can only think of one reason, and that is USCIS doesn't have a predictable way of doing things !!! Relax. And all the best for your interview. Hope you get approval.

Was at peace with myself that on the interview day I will get approved untill I read the threads saying delays might still kick-in thru things like name check etc.

Had a DUI in 2002 and while in India, had to get new VISA stamp based on H1B and due to DUI I had to give fingerprints (221g I guess).
Not sure if name check was also initiated at that time. Hope they did that too.

Can you or someone let me know
1) Whether a name check would have been initiated at that time during VISA stamp process or how/where to find that out?
2) If yes for above, will that name check status be used for AOS interview? (If so, good)

Since the local office has scheduled me for interview, can I assume that
3) the local office has all my files (AOS/AP application I guess)
4) FP, Name check results are available or atleast FP is readable to make the AOS decision?
(Read in some cases that after interview is scheduled and during interview they postpone it saying they do not have the files etc or FP unreadable or name check status not avilable etc)

Hope they did a name check too that time and those results can be used for my AOS interview so to not get tangled further with name check delays.

Anyways will update the forum with my case details after my interview date.

--thanks

Also what are A-files and T-files w.r.t to AOS/AP/EAD application?

Exactly, our 485 case got transferred before our 140 was approved at CSC. After the case was transferred our APs were approved at CSC and then our EADs got transferred. I think it's all a matter of who's looking at the file at any point in time and how lazy they feel that day.
