Is anyone in this boat? my husband has a Approved EAD and applied for social security card... They said they have to verify with the USCIS at nebraska. it took almost 45 days. My husband went there to inquire and they said they did not received any response from them yet.... anyone in same boat????

It shouldn't take that long, of course:mad:

Don't forget though, that having an SSN is not a requirement to work. So long as he can prove his work authorization (the EAD) and can show that he has attempted to get card and it is pending, this is sufficient for most employers to hire someone.

Nelsona,

Yah! but when it comes to Paycheck they cannot issue you a paycheck unless you get a social. they already took 45 days and wonder how long its going to take. i called USCIS and she said she could not do much.

I would not want a 'paycheck' until I get my SSN. Too complicated to get everything fixed with IRS when you try this.

However, they can give you advances, etc. You need to be a little creative....:)

Or live off your savings....

Or starve.;)

We also have the same problem. It's been a month since my wife applied for hers. While applying the SSO guy was checking some online system and said that her information was not matching and he will have to send it to USCIS for verification. Called him back after 3 weeks. Nothing changed.
