Hi,

I have got I-485 receipt notice, got my interview done. GC is pending due to Fingerprint check and non-availiabilty of visa numbers ( approved I-130 based my spouse's GC ). I am currently on H-1B, but the Visa stamp on my passport has expired in Jan 2006.

I want to travel end of this year/beginnng of next year out of the country and was looking to apply for Advance Parole.

Looking at the form, what do I apply for? Re-entry permit(since it needed for coming back into this country) or an Advance Parole document(whereas I have to send a letter stating a good reason of why I want to travel outside the country). I am not sure which one I should check on the application form.
And what is a good reason to state. I just want to visit my home country for 3-4 weeks.

Please help. Any help/direction is appreciated :)

Advance Parole is what you want, and for your reason say "want to visit my home country".

I have never heard of a single case of AP being denied for an "invalid reason for travel" other than for an emergency AP.

Advance Parole is what you need, they wont deny you. Once you get back, they check you nothing, just stamp the paper and will let you go in the airport.
