Immigration received my RFI on 10/19/2005 but I haven't from them since then.
My online status changed twice since then saying the same thing(Your RFI was received om 10/19/05, 10/25/2005).
In 3 months my EAD expires and I am not sure if I should apply for another one at this time or should I wait for the GC?
What do you gyus think?

you do not need the darn ead to begin with.

i can't believe people in asylum status still pay for EAD!

YOU DON'T NEED ONE. ALL YOU NEED IS A VALID ID AND A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD WITH NO LIMITATIONS. EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS!THAT IS WHY WE HAVE THEM.

Apply for your new EAD if your employer requires for, since you're not yet a PR.I don't see how much power could you have to convince any employer about something what he supposes should be done on the other way.

of course you can. it is the law. search around this forum and you will find pdf files refering to this regulation in detail. it is easy, worked for me,should work for all.

This is ridiculous. The law specififies the type of documents you can submit. If your employer does not the follow the law (which is very rare) then all you need to do is call the office of civil rights of the US Department of Justice.

The very ridiculous thing is while out of job, waisting a time on calling the civil right of the US Department of justice.I don't see how important is it.The question is how long it takes you to get the answer from the civil rights of the US Department of justice and how helpfull that answer is gonna be?Do you think the US Department of justice is gonna ask the US Department of Homeland security to eliminate the production of EADs then employers may not ask this any more?

it is very simple. two yeas ago i applied for a job and I only gave my ss card and my georgia license. The hr person, who was a new hire herself balked. So I called the civil rights office on my cell and spoke to a staff attorney. The attorney asked to speak with the employer and the misunderstanding was cleared up immdiately.

The point is I am a taxpayer who funds the federal government and I expect them to help me enforce my legal rights. Unlike the USCIS, most agencies are a model of effciency.

if you want to abdicate your rights, you are welcome to do so. just do not tell others that they cannot assert their legal rights.

what kind of absurd logic is this??????

Does it mean that the State Department should eliminate the production of US passports and the DHS should eliminate the production of green cards as well? Passport holders and green card holders, like asylees and refugees, can use the ss card and a state ID. They do not have to show their passports or green cards unless they want to. Asylees do not have to show their EADs unless they want to.

so should we just do away with passports and green cards so that "employers may not ask this any more"???????

he certainly is. it was so hilarious that I only recenlty stopped laughing.

When applying for any job,you need SS,state ID and proof of your immigration status.EAD is one of a long list of items as proof of status. So how bad is to forward it when your employer need it?I'm a PR,so how bad is gonna be to forward my GC if my employer ask me a proof of eligibility to work in US?If this is not a requirement for my employer, why the same US government wrote down in the back of my GC ''The Person identified by this card is authorized to work and reside in the US''?Why the same US government by law asks EAD holders to renew it once it expires? Finally what is the purpose of EAD?If we don't need it why the US government has to waist money to produce this document? Now you're talking about eliminating US passports and GC,my man,I thing you're little confused on what you're talking about.Every document produced by any government is usefull.EAD is produced to be used.GC and US passport as well.If you reject EAD,that means, you reject GC and US passport as well.Did you apply for EAD and uscis/INS denies your application because you don't need it?

This is a silly discussion. The USCIS, SSA and the ORR and the DOJ are said that a social security card and a photo ID. Should I take your words and those of the agencies???????

:D :D
