Even if INS issues you an EAD after your I-485 approval, it becomes legally invalid when you have your I-551 in your passport. You should not present your EAD to any employer. I received my second EAD after my I-485 was approved. The IIO told me that the EAD is not valid after passport stamping.

EAD pending application
The following situation happened to me at NSC:
- My previous EAD was about to expire (2-3 months) while I did not receive my 485 approval; my lawyer suggested me to apply for an EAD renewal, to avoid any possible work interruption. That\'s what I did
- The 485 approval arrived a month prior to EAD expiration.
I thought that I had to forget about the EAD and the associated fees.
However, NSC has used me fees to issue me a Re-entry permit valid for two years.
I received my permit about 4 months after my passport was stamped. I really have no use of it. But it\'s neat.

I received a letter from INS stating that my EAD application was being rejected as my I485 was already approved. Sadly there is no refund for the fees.
