EAD/AP Lost and Found(???)

jampack,

Thanks a lot for sharing your whole story related to EAD and AP.

Same thing happened to my wife. We have applied for EAD and got the receipt and we never received the card. INS confirms that they send 4 weeks back itself. Checked with INS customer service, local USPS post office and mail man. But no one could help us. We didn't have any option other than re applying for it.

Did you get your second EAD (which you applied again) come back or not to your correct address.

GCDeewana,

Well, it was my second EAD overall that this whole story happened. I was going to re-apply for my EAD (would have been my third), but fortunately I found the lost one. I hope that your wife gets the re-applied EAD.

I don't have the time, money and energy to prove anything, but it just seems very co-incidental that a whole bunch of things happened together. Where there is a process, there are always people like scammers to subvert it. This high-tech consultancy business seems to be very profitable.

For those people interested in my post so far, I've updated it with more information in the Comments section. Please read on about more information I obtained by going around.

looks like our EADs lost too

This is very strange.
My wife and myself our APs in the mail 3/6/06.
On 3/3/06 our EADs were approved and cards ordered. Then on 3/7 they were mailed out (to who knows where....). So far we haven't gotten the EAD cards and I am thinking they have been lost.
Interestingly we got the I-485 transfer notices (CSC cases to TSC) that were sent out on 3/24 on 3/27. so the address on the AP and I-485 worked fine and things arrived here within a few days of being mailed, but what happened to BOTH EADs? We never moved since applying so we didn't initiate any address change. I requested USPS to do a lost mail research (not that I am expecting much). My lawyer recommended to try local USCIS to try to get interim EAD after 90 days - just it would probably be for 1-3 months - like that's going to help much.
They should have a process in place for cases like these. What good is all the spent time and money when you get approved and then you are basically more 'screwed' as compared to not being approved for the EAD and possibly have to apply all over again and hope it comes this time?

couple of things you could do

I didn't initiate any address change either. but somebody changed my address. you can phone USCIS and verify if the address under your A# is your address, or it is something else.

Another thing is you could ask USCIS if they Return Service Request on the EADs they send out. If you notice, my AP was Return Service Requested, but not my EAD. It'd be interesting to know what they did for your EADs.

I got really lucky, but going to the address I found out, and even more luckily, finding my stuff there. So, I have evidence to show what was happening. Otherwise, I'd still be in the dark too. I guess one has to try something or the other out.
