EAD/AP Fees question

I know this is the wrong forum, but I am posting here too since lot more people visit this forum than the EAD/AP forum. Thanks for your patience.

I am trying to apply for my EAD and AP renewal by myself at Vermont Service Center. I see some conflicting posts on this forum. Can somebody help?

1. One of the posts said that we cannot send a personal checks any more, just Money orders or cashier checks: The "sub-office" in St. Albans, VT says this on their web page (http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/fees.htm). But the VSC (also in St. Albans, VT) does not say this on their web page (http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/scnational/index.htm#C)
 Can we send personal checks?

2. The check should be made out to BCIS: Though the 'sub-office' says explicitly that they require this, the VSC web page does not say this.
 Should we make out the check/money order to BCIS or INS?

Appreciate your answers? Anybody who sent their applications recently, please advise.

Thanks.

Personal Checks are fine

I myself sent mine and my spouse's applications for EAD renewals in the First week of April.

I wrote just one personal check for my and my wife and enclosed all the application materials along with the check in the same packet. My wife's EAD renewal was approved on May 20th, 2003 and mine is still pending.

Does this answer your questions ?

personal check is accepted

My lawyer had sent personal check to VSC for AP and EAD..

At local office (Arlington) also they accepted personal check ( with valid photo id) for AP.

This was about 1 month ago.
