EAD/AP - Can I file by myself?

Hi,

My 140/485 were filed concurrently by my Company through an Attorney.

My 140 was approved and now I'm waiting for my 485 approval.

Question: Can I file EAD/AP for me & my wife without contacting my attorney?

Of course. Just fill out forms I-765 and I-131 for each of you, print them out and submit with a check for each, photographs as required and a copy of your I-485 receipts - or e-File.

That is the problem. I requested a copy of I-485 receipts and they did not give them to me.

485 is YOUR petition and its YOUR attorney.
They should absolutely give it to you - PERIOD.

Otherwise you can file a FOIA request and get the documents.
And yeah, at that time it'll be a wise idea to change your attorney as well.

First, what is FOIA?
Second, the Attorney is our Company's and they pay him. I didn't pay anything when filing LC/140/485. Does that give them the right to hold on to my receipts without giving me a copy.

FOIA=Freedom of Information Act[for details check various threads on this
topic]

ur attorney has no right to hide 485 receipt from u. if he/she
dosent listen then inform them about complaining to INS.
remember 485/ead/ap are ur applications.

If your company is paying then why do U want to file yourself.
Let them do it for you.

They want me to pay for our EAD/AP 'coz their not included in the contract I signed when they sponsored me for H1. They would only file EAD for me when I reach my 6 years. Their attorney charge higher than if I do it myself.

like i said b4 do it urself. It ain't a big deal. many ppl do it themselves.

Its true many companies dont bear any expences after 140 stage
as EAD/AP/485 is an individual application.
