EAD/AP applying, Status is on H1

I'm in unique situation. I have my H1 validity till Dec-2005 and I filed my 485 in Apr-2003. I'm planing to go to India in Oct/Nov to get married. For this reason, I never changed my status to EAD, remain on H1.

Now, as it may get approve any time, I want to apply for AP. Can I do that? Can I file for AP with H1 status? I heard the moment 485 gets approved, H1 gets canclled automatically. Is that right?

---- Ye,s you can file AP if I-485 pending, it does not matter if you are on H1 status and I-485 pending , one can have AP ead for diffrent reasons.

I heard the moment 485 gets approved, H1 gets canclled automatically. Is that right?
