HI

My 140/485/EAD/AP were applied in December 04. AP is already approved and EAD should be approved soon.

I will be completing 6 years on H-1 in June 2005. As far as I know, there is no benefit in applying for a 7th year H1 extension as an insurance against a layoff - If something unfortunate happens at my current job, I cannot use the 7th year H-1 extension to work with another employer.

Let me know if this assumption is correct. Is there any other reason why I should be applying for a 7th year H1 extension.

Thanks in advance.

I think you should apply for your 7th year H1 extension. Its always better to be on H1 until your I-140 is approved and you have crossed 180 days on your 485. Even your worst fear comes true (God forbid...), if you are on 7th year H1, you could transfer the 7th year H1 duration to a new employer and continue to be on H1. Ensure that your GC process is atleast continued by your employer in that case.

Good Luck.
