EAD and strike assignment

My I-140 was approved 1 year ago and currently I am working on EAD card. Now, my company is planning to send me on a strike assignment (may be for 1 month) which is a non IT related job. So, the job specifications mentioned in my I-485 application do not match with the strike duties.

So, can it be a problem if some one informs INS about this. Please advice me in this regard.

Thanks a lot!

oh, humans!

intelligent and so blunt! :) you know, it wouldnt hurt to say the same politely. its not like if you say it rudely, he going to be any less paranoid. so why not compensate for his paranoia by making simple statements.

robocop, great rejoinder...

I agree with you. We need to be sensitive when replying. All of us are in varying degrees of paranoia or else why would be lurking around these boards. ;)

Sorry folks for hurting anybody here. I think I was polite. I do agree that a lot of folks here are on the edge of their seat, including myself. What I was trying to specifically target are statements like "What if somebody tell this to USICS?". There are lots of such 'What ifs' in this world and the current society that we are living in, especially here. With our non-caucsian skin, dark hair, maybe beards, accent, we all are looked upon with a degree of suspicion. Our conversations in foreign languages are interpreted for suspicious words. Taking family for an outing to landmark sites and using video cameras are monitored. There is one case in this portal wherein the guy was picked up while filiming some landmark in NY city. But how can one live with comfort if we were paranoid about such "What ifs"?
I apologize for taking an extreme interpretation of the person's concern. However if the concern was really brought about by paranoia, I think one should relax, for it is the very nature of life to be uncertain and pose fears. The worst enemy is not the unknown but the fear of it.
Sorry and thanks

rkjas,
As long as on paper if your job description still continuous to be same, why do you worry of assignment of duties. 99.99% of the people have performed duties, at least once, that do not describe in job description.
Also, to inform USCIS, one needs your LIN number..., who else could do it other than your Attorney or yourself. I do not think even your HR will have your 485 Lin number....., since 485 is between you and the Attorney.

You are true in your statement "fear is the worst enemy", but after reading through Markandeyulu's case (posted in this forum few months back), poeple lost guts. Also, the job insecurity and prologed waiting 485 status, led people into a state of fear.

Hi Guys,

Excuse me for posting the question in a incorrect way.

Actually, what I want to know is whether it is legal or illegal for my company to assign me job duties not mentioned in I-485.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your advices!

485 and GC is for a *future* job -- I don't think anyone will care what you are doing prior to getting the GC.
All the company says is that if so and so gets their GC, they will do such-n-such job for $xxx pay.

So - you are clear :)

You are OK. When you are on EAD, your primary job should be the same as mentioned in your labor certificate. You are, and you are being paid for that. You are just been temporarily assigned to another task within the company and this will not jeapordize your GC processing. Your accounts manager has done a nice job in getting all those issues clarified. Don't worry. ;)
