EAD and Social Security Card

MS1234567 - You need to update SSN with EAD info.

My wife also had SSN not valid for work. We went to SS office and
showed EAD. They updated their records and sent new card with
same SS Number and with "Valid for Work with INS authorization".
It took 6 weeks in Atlanta to get updated SSN.
 
It takes 2 Months for New SSN Card after H4-EAD.

We tried for my wife who got EAD (from H4). They told us that they ahve to send the application to INS and will take 2 months.
Did anybody ahs same prblem?
 
Taxi ID Number

My wife has already got Tax ID Number and now that we got EAD card, will they issue a new number for SS or they are going to use the same Tax ID number? Your response is really appreciated.

we got ead 0n 11/16/01
applied for ssn on 11/17/01
they said they need to send it to INS to verify the same
they said it may take 4-8 weeks for this.

Different number.

If she wants to work, she needs to apply Social Security card.
It\'s better to apply one even though she is not working. It\'s more convenient to have SS card.
