hi,is ead as good as having green card while applying for residency spots where they dont sponcer visa or say they take g.c holders or j-1 like univeristy programs?
In my opinion if the EAD is based on your spouse, then it is possible to apply for residency based on the EAD. You would be similar to somebody with a green card in most programs.
However as posted before my situation is that I have an EAD based on my present job and then it is questionable if you can go for a fellowship or residency.
yes i am the primary applicant and my spouse is the one who would want to apply for residency programs.i am not from medical background so had a few doubts.we will be filing for 485 and ead this month.i was wondering if ead is as good as having g.c for residency programs that say they only admit g.c holders or j-1
The problem with using EAD for residency is that some of the residency secretaries who screen the applications have a brain like a 'PEZ' dispenser. If they don't see 'green-card' or 'J1' the application never makes it to the selection committee.
