EAD and H1b

Friends,

I understand we can apply and have EAD approved at hand, while still maintaining H1 status, am I right?

I want to apply EAD now but do not want to use it untill my 180-day period and I-140 approval.

Hope by having EAD at hand I'm not jeopardizing H1b status.

Nope,

Using an EAD and getting an EAD are 2 different things. You are on an H-1B until you use your EAD to get employment.

can I change back to H-1 status after using EAD? if yes, do you have to leave US to get H-1 visa or I can apply for it here without leaving the country? My worry is that I-485 get rejected, then I will lose the status.

Well, for the reason 485 might get rejected, its always best to use EAD after 140 is approved.

Once you use EAD, you can revert it back to H1. Once you use EAD, your h1 will automatically get invalid. So, You need to have a sponsoring company again for H1.
