EAD and AP pending for more than 5 months

Me and my wife(dependent) applied for i485 along with EAD and AP on 05/18/2007, My wife got her AP and EAD with in a month of applying, but mine is still pending, its been more than 5 months now, I called USCIS couple of times started query but nothing, last week I received one letter from USCIS stating " We have to perform additional review on this case and has caused longer time" and to wait for 60-90 days of this letter.
I was wondering what kind of additional review for EAD and AP are required ?
My EAD still has original LUD of 05/18/07 no change, but AP LUD changed from 05/18 to 08/16 but nothing after that.

FP >> June/12/2007 (mine and spouse)

What could be the reason ? Any information on this is really appriciated.

I guss this is security check. My AP is pending for about 7 months and my EAD issued afer 3 monhs after a lot of requests, faxes, calls........etc (See my signature)

Secutiry check .. is this same as Name check ? and is this some thing to worry about ? i mean can it lead to rejection or some thing ?
and if it is taking that long for AP and EAD, does it mean it will take very long for i-485 ?
